How to Clean, Store and Protect Acrylic Mahjong Tiles
Acrylic tiles are low-maintenance, but a little care keeps them looking new for years.
Routine cleaning. Wipe tiles with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth after play to remove oils and dust from handling.
Avoid harsh products. Skip strong chemicals, solvents and abrasive cloths — they can dull the surface or affect the printed faces. Mild and gentle is enough for acrylic.
Marks. For stubborn marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not soak tiles or leave them in water.
Heat and sunlight. Keep tiles away from direct heat and long periods of strong sunlight.
Storage. Store tiles in their case so they do not knock against each other. A firm case prevents scratches and keeps the set together.
Handling. A mat during play reduces impact and noise, which protects edges.
Clean mats and racks the same way and store them with the tiles. With a quick wipe after each game and sensible storage, a good acrylic set stays clear, glossy and easy to read for a long time.
